Wedding Wednesday

Oh my goodness!
10 days to go!
That means that I will only go to sleep 10 more times as Sarah Harper!!

It is down to the wire crazy around here!

This past weekend I:
*got my nails done for the wedding. Yes I know I will need to get them filled late next week but I wanted to give myself time to get used to them. And ps- remember this post with the bright blue nail polish? Well it was super hard to get off. The girl litterally had to buff it off of my nails & the skin around my nails turned blue from it!! I looked sick (and not in a good way!)
*survived bachelorette party #2. 3 of my girlfriends from high school took me out since they couldn't make it to my first party. Uff-da.
*bought gifts for our ring bearer and flower girl. I got them the crayola things where you can go online, take a picture of yourself and upload it to your own coloring book that you can print off. How cool is that?
*the future Mr and I finalized our programs with the printing company.
*the future Mr and I decided on what we wanted to do for cake/where we wanted the cake and cupcakes to go at the wedding
*touched base with the photographer to make sure that we're on the same page.
*confirmed with the florist as to what we need & how much it will cost

Yesterday I:
*made a list of pictures that I want to get
*printed off picture examples of pictures that I want
*printed off picutre examples of up-dos that I like for me and the b-maids

This weekend we need to:
*get a unity candle
*get a garter
*get a cute cake knife to cut the cake with for pictures
*get champagne/wine glasses for my b-maids for at the reception
*pick up my ring (I still feel very naked without it)
*I need to finish thank yous from my bridal shower
*make place cards for all of our guests
*finish b-maid gifts
*touch base with the Holiday Inn (food, beverages, cake, set up, etc)
*get the supplies for our sweet and salty table (goldfish, cheeze itz, chex mix, peanuts, m & m's, skittles, mints, twizzlers, etc as well as bowls to put all of them in)
*make bathroom boxes for the bathrooms at the HI? Maybe?

My head hurts thinking of all of the things that I need to get done. And it isn't helping me to sleep at all...

Love, a future Mrs (I won't be able to say that for much longer!!)

So What Wednesday

It's time to link up with Shannon again over at
Life After I "Dew" for another edition of So What Wednesday!

Here's what I'm saying "So What?" to this week:

*if I eat the same thing for lunch every Wednesday? It's so easy to get a footlong sub, eat 1/2 at lunch time & 1/2 at dinner time on Wednesdays when I'm at church forever.

*if I want to change my blog backround again? I think it's time for something Christmas-y...

*if it isn't even December yet and I'm already wearing a Christmas shirt? What? We're decorating tonight at youth group!

*if I am the worst blog swap partner ever?! I was suppose to get my scarfament in the mail in time for my partner to get it by tomorrow... It's still sitting here waiting to go to the post office...
I'm sorry Sarah! It's going in the mail this afternoon, I promise!
PS- you should go check out her blog Handbags N Pigtails- so cute!

*if it takes me days to do my laundry?

*if it's really hard to focus on work right now? Give me a break- I'm getting married in 10 days!

What are you saying "So What?" to this week?
Head on over to Life After I "Dew" to see what everyone
else is "So What-ing" this week!

Christmas

I am dying to put up my Christmas decorations.

But I told myself that I have to clean my house first. Obviously, I need somewhere to put the decorations, and the way the house is now, there's no where for them to go.

So tonight I will be cleaning my house and (hopefully) decorating.

Last night I turned the outside Christmas light on for the first time. Remember when the future Mr and I put them up? Well now I can finally turn them on. I seriously stood at my front door last night and just looked at them. They make my soul happy.

Have you decorated yet?

Love, a future Mrs.

Black Friday

I am such a hypocrit.

As we were having Thanksgiving dinner at my parent's house I was complaining that my sister had to go to work at 2 the next morning. I was complaining about how the focus of Thanksgiving gets lost. We rush through it to get to get deals and Christmas. We don't really take the day to be thankful (which we shouldn't really limit to one day anyway) and we don't take the time to relax with our families.

Then I went shopping at Wal*Mart at 10 pm on Thanksgiving with the future Mr's cousins. Yes, I am disgusted with myself too. I could NOT believe how many people were there!! And it wasn't even for the electronics- they didn't go on sale until midnight!

I wanted to get sheets and tupperware for my mom for Christmas because they were on her list and they were on sale (I'm talking great deals- 600 thread count sheets for $20!). But when we finally found the sheets someone had already ripped open the palet and taken all but 1 pair of the sheets. And that one pair was spoken for by the only girl that listened to the Wal*Mart emplyees and put her set back. There were other sheets that weren't as nice that were on sale too so I waited for those. At 10 o'clock they announce that you can take stuff now. This woman totally took over and put her but in my face hogged the sheets, seriously- she took like 5 sets. By the time she finally moved all the queen size sheets were gone :( so I didn't get any. Thankfully in the time that I spent trying to get the sheets, the tupperware didn't all get taken so I got mom the tupperware she wants. Hopefully she isn't reading this. Then I met back up with the future Mr's cousins, who had both gotten what they were waiting for. Amy got a sewing bag for her MIL and classic children's books (so bummed I didn't get those, they were $15 books on sale for $5!) and Megan got some picture frame set. Then we headed off to the movies!! Wooo who! I got 9 movies for $1.96 each! Then I got home and realized that I already have Mrs. Doubtfire and I bought it again... oops. Katie doesn't so she's getting it now. Then we went and got in line. I still could not believe the people. I'm so glad that I didn't have a panic/anxiety attack like I did when we went to the Renaissance Festival in September. While we were in line I snuck away for a minute and got a knock off sencty warmer because they were on sale too, and then I jumped back in line. I know, I'm a cheater, I'm sorry.

After that we went out for one drink and decided that we had started a tradition.

The next morning they picked me up a little after 5. Yuck, I know. I never thought I'd be one of those people. Our first stop was Radio Shack so they could get a Kindle for their mom/MIL (they are sister in laws). And get this, Radio Shack didn't even have one!! It was in the ad and they didn't have one! No, someone else didn't beat us to it, they never had one. Megan was pissed. Then we went to Menard's. Holy cow!!! The line was so crazy, I could not believe how many people were there. The line went all the way across the parking lot and down the frontage road. Then they opened the doors and it was a mad dash. Crazy. We got everything there that we wanted. I got a cricut cartridge, 2 candles, a wii remote charger for church, and 2 fleece blankets to make a tie blanket. The girls got what they came for too- dog beds and batteries.

After that it was off to K-Mart. It was so quiet. There was no one there. Again, we got everything we went for. I got the future Mr a craftmans shop-vac, and I got sheets for my mom. And tortilla chips. They weren't on sale but we had good dip at home and we were out of chips.

Then we stopped at McDonald's for breakfast and I was home by 8:30.

I spent the afternoon visiting with my friend Katie who is home from Portland to sing in the wedding. I haven't seen her in 15 months. It was so good to see her and visit for a while.

Then I went back to Wal*Mart to gifts for our flower girl and ring bearer. They're getting the thing from crayola where they get to go online and upload a picture of themselves then print off a coloring book where they're the star. How fun is that??

All in all, it was a successful black Friday. Even though I am a hypocrit.

Happy Needless Turkey Murder Day!

Okay, so I know I'm a few days late but better late then never right??

And, no, I am not a vegetarian, I just love "Friends" and I die when Pheobe says "Happy Needless Turkey Murder Day!"

So this is my Thanksgiving post.

I love Thanksgiving. I love that we get to eat a lot. I love that we get to relax. I love the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade. I love my family and spending time with them. I love the future Mr's family and spending time with them. I love gravy and rolls. I love sleeping in. I love the way the house smells when mom cooks.

I love it all.

This year we had Thanksgiving at my parent's house at 1 on Thursday. Katie and I helped mom cook, I made Grandma L's gravy that mom says year after year she can never make the same way G-ma did. Mom was impressed with mine :) I'm pretty sure I was beaming when everyone liked my gravy (even though it's just gravy and it isn't that hard). Since we were eating at 1 we needed to get up to cook at 8.

Ugh. It wouldn't have been so bad if we hadn't gone out to hear a band play the night before. And it wouldn't have been so bad if we would've just listened to the band for a while instead of staying until almost 2.

Anyway... Mom and I got up at 8 so she could teach me to make her stuffing. I figured since I'm getting married I might need to learn how to do all of this stuff. Katie got up to help a little later then we watched the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade which I normally love but it was terrible this year! The floats/balloons were all really far apart, the hosts weren't so great, and there were a ton of commercials. I slept through most of it part of it. Then it was back to cooking. I love the way the house smells when we cook turkey dinner with all of the fixings.

We ate a little after one. This year it was just 5 of us: mom, dad, Katie, me, future Mr. E didn't come this year because Katie works at JCPenny's in Fargo and she had to work at like 2 in the morning so she went back to Fargo when we were done with dinner. I wish he would've come with her, he's been around so long now that when he isn't there it feels like someone is missing :(

After we ate with my family I got dressed, yes I was still in my yoga pants and college sweatshirt, and we went to the future in-laws because they had dinner at one too. We didn't eat again. In fact, I didn't have anything to eat at their house. If you could've seen the dessert table you would be impressed with my will power. Actually, I didn't have any desserts on Thanksgiving. Mom bought a pecan pie and I'm more of an apple girl.

While we were at their house I got to hold the future Mr's cousin's new baby girl. Seriously, baby fever is in full force here. She is such a doll. And the future Mr held her!! It was the first time he'd ever held a baby!! I was so proud of him, I even took a picture. But he'd probably kill me if I showed anyone...

So that was our Thanksgiving 2011. Our last Thanksgiving with different last names!
How was your Thanksgiving?? Did you eat too much?

Love, a future Mrs

So What Wednesday!

It's that time of the week again!
Time to link up with Shannon over at Life After I "Dew"
for another edition of So What Wednesday

Here's what I'm saying So What to this week:

*if I jump just about every time the phone rings at work? It's loud and it doesn't ring very often.

*if I'm going to my parents house today for Thanksgiving, I'm leaving at 1 o'clock this afternoon and I didn't pack until 11 o'clock last night? And I'm taking laundry home with me?

*if I wish we weren't still getting RSVP cards back? Can't people read and send them in on time?

*if I STILL don't understand things about my iPhone and I STILL haven't loaded my music onto it? I know how to do the things that I need to do and I have Pandora.

*if I've had a really hard time focusing on work this week? It was a long working weekend and it's a short week. All I can think about is laying around my parents house all weekend!!

*if I'm really excited for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade tomorrow?

*if I'm not really excited about have two Thanksgiving celebrations at the same time tomorrow? I'd really like to just enjoy the day and not have to rush from place to place or worry about who we're not seeing.

*if I have no idea what to do with all of the gifts that I got from my showers? I seriously have no where to put them in my house. And in 2 1/2 weeks we're going to get wedding gifts and I'll have no idea where to put those. Right now, the spot where the Christmas tree should go is full of gifts. The dining room is full of gifts and other wedding stuff. There is wedding stuff strewn about the living room. My house is seriously being taken over. I can't handle it.

*if I want to go back to kindergarten so I can nap everyday?

What are you saying So What to this week?

else is saying So What to this week!

Weekend recap

I have tons of pictures on my iPhone to share with you from this weekend, but I just got instagram and I really want to make them look cool first. And I want to see if I can figure out how to bypass facebook and load picutres from my iPhone to my blog. Right now I'm putting them in my mobile uploads album then copy pasting them to the blog and then deleting them from facebook. Anyone know how I can bypass facebook? Help? Please?

Anyway- this weekend I was in Grand Forks for the NW MN Synod Middle School gathering. It was awesome. I'm on the Lutheran Youth Organization board which is in charge of planning this gathering. And I had kids from my church come. So it was a busy, full weekend. Oh yea, and we had our 31st annual turkey dinner at church on Sunday evening when I got home. We served 100 people. So it was a really busy, really full weekend. But it was a great weekend.

There were over 800 attendees at the gathering. It warmed my heart so much to see so many middle school kids worshiping together. And caring so much for other people. They donated almost $3,000 during the offering and that money will go to churches in Minot that were flooded this summer!!! They also made these bracelets during one of their breakout sessions:
We made these at youth group & sent them with missionaries to orphanages in Russia. The kids loved making them!
We made these in youth group last spring and sent them to a church that was sending missionaries to Russia to visit orphanges.

So I got to lead the breakout session where the gathering kids got to make these. They each got to make 2 bracelets. One for themselves and one to donate. They got to choose where in the world they wanted to donated their bracelet to: our sister synod in India, the church we worked with last year from Haiti, or the churches in Minot that our financial offering was going to. It was so awesome to see these kids jump into this project. Some of them didn't get it, but some of them really got it. The ones that got it helped the ones that didn't. Love. The idea was that while they were making the bracelets they would be praying for the whomever gets their bracelet and when they wear their bracelet they pray for them again. Even tho they don't know who the other person is. How awesome is that??

Yesterday I had to go back over to Grand Forks because I forgot to take my wedding band with this weekend and I had to send my rings out to get soddered together.
Sorry for the blurry picture.
My hand looks and feels so naked. And now I don't get to wear my rings again until I'm married to my future Mr. Ahhhhh!!! That's only 18 days away. 18! Oh my. I have a lot to do in 18 days...
Centerpieces...... Bmaid gifts (I only have 1 thing left to make)...... Gman gifts (they've been ordered, we're just waiting for them) ............. Programs (We're in the proofing stage with the printing company) ......... Touch base with the photog, make sure we've got the details down ................. Touch base again with the DJ ........... Final dress fittings ................. Try to not stress out ................. Make place cards ................ Find something to put favors in ..................... I'm sure I'll have more to share tomorrow in my Wedding Wednesday post, only 3 more Wedding Wednesdays until I'm a Mrs!!!!

Hope you're having a great Tuesday!
Love, a future Mrs. (not for much longer!!)

Wedding Wednesday

Only 24 days to go!
That means only 3 Wedding Wednesdays between now and the big day!

It's been another busy week in wedding world!
I've been working on centerpieces.
We're using wine bottles for our centerpieces. We will have between 3 and 5 bottles on each table depending on the size of the table and the bottle (yes- 2 sizes of tables, round and rectangle).
Each bottle has been wrapping in yarn, spray painted or overed in glitter.
Oh! We're also using the eternity candles from church as centerpieces. The candle gets a new instert everyweek that is basically a candle in a glass cylinder that burns for a whole week. So those have also been wrapped in yarn, spray painted and covered in glitter.
Glass jars, twine, spray paint
This is what the spray painted ones look like but this is a picture from pinterest. I forgot to take a picture of mine but this is where I got the idea and this is what mine look like.
This is what the ones wrapped in yarn look like:
Sorry, you'll have to pretend that it's right side up, I couldn't get it to rotate.
Anyway, there are some blue, some green and some white. Well not some, lots of each. I've gone through two things of yarn in each color so far...
The glitter ones you'll have to use your imaginations with for now. I don't have a real picture of them or an inspiration picture of them. Sorry!

Also, our favors are done. I can't remember if I told you about them or not so I'll tell you again!
We are doing bouncy ball favors :)
Each bouncy ball is in it's own bag with a tag at the top that says "Hope you had a 'ball' at our wedding!" Love, Sarah and Kris
How cute are those? I'm so excited to give them to people.
In the assortment pack of bouncy balls that I got from oriental trading there were some bouncy balls that looked like rocks and they bouncy all crazy, those ones say "Hope you had a 'rockin' good time at our wedding" Love, Sarah and Kris.
Love it!
This is what all 300 favors look like. Thats a box that printer paper comes in- it's not small...
You can see one of the rock bouncy balls on top.

On Monday night I worked on necklaces for my bridesmaids.
initial on a chain (hand stamped jewelry)
This is what I wanted to get them, with just one letter charm in their inital.
But these are $30 a piece. And I have 6 bridesmaids. Yea, not happening.
This is what I made instead:
I got the chains for $2.47 a piece. The silver circles came in a 4 pack for $2.47 and I had the pearls from when I made their earrings and the head pins so I could make pearl charm for each.
My thought at first was to find a way to stamp their initials on the silver circles myself. I bought an old typewriter at the 2nd hand store but I couldn't get the letters out and I don't think they would have been solid enough even if I could have gotten them out.
So I gave up on the letters and just went with the circles and the pearls.
And I think they turned out beautifully! I really love them. And they were so easy to put together, I was suprized at how easy it was.

We (me, my sister, my mom, and my ring bearers mom) have been looking for a tie for our ring bearer since we asked him to be our ring bearer.
I found one yesterday!
I was so excited!
Image of boy ties - dot in lime
Seriously!! How cute is that?
And Lindsay from The Pleated Poppy was so helpful!
I had issues with putting the tie in my "cart" then having to refresh the window and it wasn't there anymore, she emailed me back right away and was very helpful and nice.
I'm so excited! That tie is going to look so cool with the lime green and royal blue that everyone else is wearing!!!!!
Yay!

So, it's been a busy week in wedding town. Only a few more weeks to go!!

Hope you're having a great day!
Love, a future Mrs

So What Wednesday

It's that time of the week again to link up with Shannon at Life After I "Dew"
for So What Wednesday!

Here's what I'm saying So What to this week:

*if I agonize over changing my blog backround event though it's super easy to change if I don't like it?

*if it drives me crazy when the inside and outside of houses don't match on tv shows or in movies? It also bothers me when hallways or rooms on the inside of buildings move to fit the story line. This probably comes from being the stage manager for drama productions at my high school, huh?

*if I find Kelly Ripa annoying? Don't hate! There are probably people that bother you that I like!

*if we only had 3 kids show up at our lock in on Friday and we spent most of the time watching movies?

*if I can't stand HSN commericals and my cable provider shows them all the time?!
*if the food network never fails to make me hungry?

*if the future Mr is having his bachelor party this weekend and I'm worried that it won't happen? His brother has been slow at planning and really doesn't have a whole lot nailed down yet...

*if I still haven't found a parent to help drive to the middle school gathering on Friday? Or if I still don't have enough people to help work at the Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday? It's Wednesday- church will busy tonight, I should be able to find help... Right?

*if I'm looking forward to January because my life might slow down a little bit? Isn't that terrible that I'm wishing away time? I know when I'm 70 I'll regret that.

What are you saying So What to this week?
Head on over to LIfe After I "Dew" to see what
everyone else is saying So What to this week!

SNOW!!

It's snowing here in northern MN!! So much so that I had to go home & get my boots on- not the ones I blogged about earlier tho, I had to go get my knock off uggs. And my winter jacket cuz my fleecy northface wasn't warm enough, and my winter gloves that are water proof- the cute knitted ones weren't cutting it any more.

And the snow is accumulating. It looks like winter is here to stay...

blog-cation?

Apparently I needed a break from blogging! Sorry! I didn't mean to take a break, life just got in the way!

I'm not complaining but work is crazy right now! This weekend we have our synod's middle school youth gathering. I'm on the board that helps plan it and I'm taking kids. Ahhhh!!! So I have to go early, then find someone to drive my kids there. Then find someone to drive them home cuz I have to stay late. On Sunday morning we have our monthly pancake breakfast, again, I had to find someone to be in charge because I'll be at the gathering. Then on Sunday afternoon/evening we have our annual Thanksgiving dinner that the sr hi youth put on for the members of our congregation that are 70 years old and older. Again, I had to find someone to put this in motion and keep it rolling because I'll get back to town about the same time that we start serving dinner.

Have I mentioned that I'm not good at asking for help? I really like to think that I'm super woman and I can do it all. And I hate calling people and asking them to help, I feel so needy and ackward.

And on top of all of this work stuff I am getting married in 25 days?!?! 25? How did that happen??

Yesterday was my day off. I spent the day working on centerpieces (I'll share more tomorrow), working on wedding jewlery (I'll share more tomorrow), running errands for the 2 meals that we have to serve at church on Sunday, and making calls for this dinner. Oh, and I did dishes and laundry, and wrote thank yous for my shower gifts.

Have a mentioned that I don't sleep much? I'm so ready for January, hopefully my life will slow down a little bit by then...

In other happy news- I finally found boots that I like!! A woo hoo!!!
I really liked them in the store and they were on sale for $20. But then I got them home and I'm just not sure what to wear them with. And I'm afraid that they look a little too cow-girl-ish. I do love country music but, I don't want to look like I belong on the farm all the time.

Then when I was looking on K-Mart's website for a picture of these beauties, I found these:
This is more of what I really want. I did see these in the store but they only had gray. It never dawned on me to look online! While I'm on their website today I see that they have free shipping on orders over $25 and the boots are buy one get one half off! I might have to return the first pair to the store here and order both pairs online. Cuz I could get both pairs for only $35!!

Although even with the 2nd pair I'm not really sure what I would wear them with... I'm not a fan of sticking your jeans into the boots and then have your jeans look bunchy, maybe I just need to get skinnier jeans. Or maybe I need thicker leggings, the ones that I have now are a little see through for my taste- more like tights. What do you wear with your boots?

How was your weekend? I hope it was fantastic!

Wedding Wednesday!

31 days to go? Really? That's all?

I'm actually not nervous. Well I am, but not about being married. I'm ready to be married. I'm nervous about getting things done in time.

In the past two weeks here is what the future Mr and I got done:

*We worked on our wine bottle center pieces. I sent 80 wine bottles home with him that are done. Now I only have like 40 more to do...

*I stopped by the florist shop to ask her about centerpiece flowers. She had origianally suggested that I order my flowers from samsclub.com becuase you can get them cheap and in bulk. So I wanted to know how much I should order, when to order them, and where to have them sent. But then we got to talking about silk flowers. I wanted to know if there was anyway to rent them since it's only for one day and it's December- real flowers don't do good in the cold. She said that she would rent me silk flowers at $1/table. A woo-hoo!!!!!! Score, I just saved a bunch of money. So that 's what we're going to do now. The head table will have real flowers because the b-maids will put their boquets there but all the other tables will have silk flowers. And I'm ok with that.
*I went to the printing place that did our invites and started talking about programs/order of worship. Hopefully I'll get a mock up this week.
*We met with the Pastor who is doing the ceremony last Friday at 4 pm. We walked about the order of worship and our pre marrige retreat weekend.
*We met with the wedding coordinator from the church last Friday at 5 pm. She was a little bit of a space cadet. She had papers all over the place, and she wasn't really organized. She makes me nervous for our wedding day.
*We were suppose to meet with the DJ at 6 pm on Friday night. We were there a few minutes to 6. At 10 after he wasn't there. At 15 after he wasn't there. At 20 after the future Mr called him and had to leave a voicemail. Finally at 6:30 he called us back. He said that he had locked his keys in his vehicle in a town thats like 40 miles away and he could meet with us in an hour. The future Mr was super stern with him and basically told him that he was really upset the DJ didn't call us when he discovered his keys were locked in his car. Then the DJ wanted to schedule another time to meet and the future Mr did him no favors, the future Mr moved nothing around to meet with him. So we met at 7 pm on Sunday night. I've never seen the future Mr act that way.
*After we got stood up by the DJ we went back to the church to meet with the organist and pick music. That was fun. It was kind of cool to be the only 3 people in the sanctuary and hear the space fill up with organ music. It was also really cool to be picking music of our wedding!! It was easy to pick. We picked 1 song for the bmaids to walk in to, one for me & my daddy to walk in to and one for the recessional. Then we talked a little about communion music which will be on the piano instead because it's softer.

*Saturday was my 2nd bridal shower and my bachelorette party. Oh.My.Gosh! So much fun! We had the shower at my future mother in laws house becuase they have a more open floor plan than my parents do. There were so many people there! I had high school friends that came from Moorhead, Fargo, and Fergus Falls and college friends that came from the Twin Cities and Worthington (at least a 5 hour drive) and friends that came from my northern town (a 2 hour drive)! I felt so loved! The shower was from 2-5. We had ham roll ups and turkey roll ups that my sister made, taco dip and chili dip, veggies and dip, cake, punch, and champagne.
We played games. They had to answer questions about me to see who knew me best. My bestie from Bible camp won, she's known me for more then 10 years so it's fitting. I don't think my mom or sister played cuz they probably would have won.
We played the purse game and whoever had the most stuff in their purse won. But this time we were in teams. I was on a team with my mom and her bestie Sue. We won but we let the team with the 2nd highest score take the gifts. I really have to much crap in my purse cuz that's the second time I've won that game.
Then I had to answer questions about the future Mr. Uff-da. I thought I knew the guy!
Just kidding- it wasn't that bad, I got more then 1/2 of the answers right :) But some of his answers were out of left feild- I had no idea that if he could live anywhere he would pick Florida, and I didn't know his dream vacation was a Carabian Cruise.
*We had the bachelorette party at my mom's house (well it's my parents house but my dad went to the cabin this weekend) at 6.
We had more food! Hot beefs and sloppy joes, taco dip (left from the shower), cheese, meat and crackers, margaritas, ice cream cake, boob & butt cookies inspired from pinterest:
Lingerie Shower Cookies. Yay! Bachelorette party!
This picture is from pinterest but ours were similar
Then we played games. We played pin the macho on the man. Yes, it's what you think it is. It was funny.
Each of my guests had to bring a pair of underwear that fit me but that describe their personalities and then I had to guess who brought which pair. I was not good at that game.
Then we had a party bus. Well, kind of. It was a party bus in the sense that it drove us to the bar and we could drink on it if we wanted to, but in every other sense it was a school bus. It was big and yellow. It had gray seats all facing forward. It did not have cool lights. It did not have coolers. It did not have a cd player. It was weird to feel like we were on a school bus.
And in typical bachelorette party fashion, I wore a veil with condoms on it which I had to sell, I had a sucker boquet of suckers that I had to sell. I had a lei that I wore, I had a ginormus ring that blinked, I had a light up button that said something about my last night to party. It was a little over the top but fun!
We did take pictures but they're all on my sister's camera and one of my b-maids cameras.

*Sunday night at 7 we met with the DJ. He was there before we were waiting this time. We talked about how we want the night to feel and songs that we do NOT want played as well as songs that we for sure want played.
*After the future Mr and I met with him, my mom and I went to do a dress fitting with my mom's friend Kari who is altering my dress (and making our cake and cupcakes). It was fun to have my dress on with the skirt and everything. I can't wait to wear it in Dec :)

So all in all, it's been a big two weeks.
OH- RSVP's are due this Friday. So far we have 80 cards and 141 yeses (we are figuring on between 225 and 250). Hopefully we get a lot more between now and Friday so I don't have to make a bunch of phone calls.

I'M GETTING MARRIED IN ONE MONTH!!!!!!!!

Love, a future Mrs.

So What Wednesday

Ahhh! Wednesday is here already!
That means I'm linking up with Shannon from Life After I "Dew"
again for another So What Wednesday!

Here's what I'm saying So What to this week:

*if I've only blogged once since last weeks SWW?

*if I'm just like Kayleigh who is guest posting on Life After I "Dew" today and I pick at my nail polish all the time? I love to see how big of a piece I can get off at once...

*if I can't decide what necklace I want my b-maids to wear? Or what I should make for them? Or if I should just buy something? Ugh...

*if I am getting married in one month and one day?!?!?! I can NOT believe that it is so close!

*if I didn't do a Wedding Wednesday last week? I didn't have a whole lot to talk about.

*if I was really bummed on Sunday morning when my bridal shower and bachelorette party were over? And then I was even more bummed when I realized that the wedding will be shorter then those to parties were?

*if I swapped cars with my dad cuz mine has to go to the "car doctor"? And I like my dads way more? Like seriously- I don't want to give it back, it's amazing.

*if I love that my daddy is still willing to take my car in to get it fixed for me? The future Mr doesn't love that so much...

*if I'm super excited for scarfament? My "partner" is a woman named Sarah from New York (the state, not the city) who dabbles in Youth Ministry. My name is Sarah and I do youth ministry! How cool is that?? But she's married, she's a mom, she homeschools & she owns a beautiful old house. I'm not there yet...

*if I get a footlong sub from Subway on Wednesdays so that I can have it for lunch and dinner? I don't really have a lot of time to run home for dinner on Wednesdays between youth group and confirmation!

*if this was a kind of long, kind of random So What Wednesday?

So What Wednesday

Welcome to birthday month! Whoop whoop!
Linking up with Shannon from Life After I "Dew" for the
1st SWW for November

Here's what I'm saying So What to this week:

*if I only eat the things I like in Chex Mix and leave the rest for someone else or throw it away? This mean that there are lots of brown chex and pretzels left for other :)

*if there is a pile of socks next to my bed? I kick them off once I'm warmed up in bed but before I fall asleep, I just kick them right out the side and for some reason I have a hard time remembering to put them in the laundry basket in the morning

*if I'm going home tomorrow for my bridal shower and bachelorette party and I haven't packed anything? I hung up the two dresses that I'll be wearing this weekend so they won't be wrink-ly

*if I can NOT tell you how excited I am for this weekend?? It's seriously going to be the best weekend ever!

*if I get bored in the tanning bed? 15 mins is a long time to lay there and do nothing

*if I am shamelessly plugging yet another give away?
You should go visit Kristin over at First Name Smith and check out the give away she's hosting today to kick off birthday month. Woo-hoo! We share our birthday month!

*if I some times question if this is the right job for me? I wonder if this is really what I'm suppose to be doing. I'm not sure what else I would do but somedays this just doesn't feel right.

*if I wear the same necklace every day? It's pretty and it's just silver so it matches everything. And it has a cross and a heart on it so it's meaningful too.

Scarfament??

Photobucket
"What's that?"

Glad you asked :) It's a scarf and ornament swap that Danielle over at Take Heart is hosting! And really- who doesn't love scarfs and ornaments?!? I know I love both of those things :)

So head on over and get entered! But hurry- you only have til Friday Nov. 4th!!

*****

I'm sure you've heard by now that these two lovebirds filed for divorce yesterday morning, after only 72 days of marriage. Kim cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. How do you even know that you have irreconcilable differences after 72 days?? That is so crazy to me! If something is big enough to get divorced about that fast don't you think you should have talked about it before getting married?!?

I've heard that they didn't have to pay anything for their wedding and that they made an estimated $7 million off their wedding. But someone paid for that wedding (weather it was them, E! entertainment, or someone else) and it cost a reported $10 million. Do you know that works out to $138,888.89 a day for each day they were married!! Which, broken down farther, works out to $578.71 an hour. That's how much their wedding cost. I really hope that by the time the future Mr and I's marriage is over (meaning one of us is dead) we've got it down to pennies a day.

A while back I blogged about the future Mr and I sharing our wedding year with some pretty famous couples. I can't find the post now otherwise I'd link you back to it. But here's a refresher of who we are graciously sharing our wedding year with:
The royal wedding:
THE royals- William and Kate, aren't they cute?

The one that almost was:
Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris.
I was really proud of her for doing what she thought was right and not going through with a marriage that wouldn't work out.

The one that grosses me out:
Doug Hutchinson and Courtney Stodden
Seriously!? Who lets their 17 year old marry a 51 year old?! I don't think I even knew any 51 year olds when I was 17! And they really need to learn how to cover it up and keep it PG when they're out and about. Honestly- who gets kicked out of a pumpkin patch??

And now that one that was and isn't:
I think that this one was never going to work.
I'm a little embarassed to admit that I watch their show from time to time.
A little while back they went on vacation with Kim's family to Bora Bora. While they were there Kris found out that Kim had been married before. Then Kim lost an earring while swimming and freaked out! Apparently it was a $75,000 earring. For those of you that aren't quick at math that means that the pair of earrings was $150,000. Gasp! That's like how much my parents paid for their house. Needless to say, Kim freaked out: tears, running to her mom, the whole bit. And Kris was like- why are you so worried about an earring? It's just something material. Then he found out how much they were and he was like why do you have earrings that cost that much?? Right there is when I knew it wouldn't work. That moment showed how materialistic she is and how different their values and morals are from each other.
They obiviously did NOT go to the same pre marriage counseling retreat that the future Mr and I did!

Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I am anti-divorce. I'm not. Some people get married and their marriages don't work. The other person changes or they themselves change. I understand that people fall out of love.

But I do think that you, as a couple, need to take the proper preparation for marriage.
You need to really know the other person.
Personally, I don't think 6 months of dating and a few months of being engaged is enough. I know it wouldn't be for me. The future Mr and I have been together for almost 4 years already.
But some people can make it work.
The future Mr has an aunt and uncle that dated for 6 weeks. Yes, weeks. And this coming spring their oldest child will graduate high school. And they seem like a really happy couple that's really in love still. I'm so glad that it works for them and that 6 weeks was long enough for them.
But 4 years was the right amount of time for us.

How long did you date your signifacant other before getting married?

Love, a future Mrs.
