so what wednesday

So What Wednesday
linking up with shannon for my favorite blog day of the week!
so what wednesday!
here's what i'm saying so what to this week:

*if i know the last gift that i want to get for the mr but i don't know how/when i'll get it? it's at sam's club & the closest one is an hour away. and i really would rather not pay out the nose for shipping.

*if the manager at the holiday gas station in town recongizes me? and no longer tells me that my pop is $0.95 because it's the same everyday.

*if i wish it were friday already so we could go to hometown, mn for christmas?

*if i have one more homemade gift to make and i haven't even started on it yet? sorry mom!
*if i'm really good at starting projects and really bad at finishing them? i get bored...

*if i made a hair appointment for friday and didn't tell the mr? i'm a little worried that he'll try to talk me out of it. he doesn't like change.

*if i'm picky when it comes to waitresses when we got out to eat? ok, i get it, you're busy. but i used to be a waitress i know what needs to be done and if you say you're going to bring us something you should probably bring it. and when i pay in cash you shouldn't just assume that the change is for you. see, told you i was picky.

*if girls weekend is just a month away and disneyland is the next weekend?? i'm so excited!!
what are you saying so what to this week?
head on over to life after i dew to link up and see what
everyone else is so whating.

hey, that's pin-tastic! & our christmas card reveal

hi friends! i've been working on pinterest projects like crazy to give as gifts this christmas. but those will have to wait to be shared until next week (if i'm on the ball with pictures and posting over christmas, but let's be real- it'll probably be 2 weeks!). but here are some of my holiday pinterest ideas that i can share:

we had our elementary age (and parents!) christmas party at church this saturday. well, we were suppose to until no one showed up :( so here are the ideas that we were going to do:
Pinned Image
pin the nose on the reindeer. i cut out all of the pieces, taped the eyes, mouth, & antlers on the wall. i was going to let the kids color the noses. i really wanted to play this game because it's so cute!

website with instructions
these are super cute too! sad we didn't get to make them.
the dough (?) was weird to make. it was really watery then it got kind of chunky then it turned to mashed potatos like she said it would. and it smells. not bad, but weird.

on sunday amber, our sunday school superintendent and i gave our sunday school teachers their christmas gifts. sugar scrub for the girls:

this was actually the second time i've made this. the first time i used EVOO that i had on hand at home. this time i used light olive oil and it turned out much better. there's nothing wrong with EVOO but it made it a little more green-y whereas the light olive oil doesn't change the color of the sugar much.

my version

and sprite for the boys:

now, for our chirstmas card reveal. not nearly as exciting as the kardashian christmas card reveal (thank the good lord they didn't do their kristmas kard reveal again this year- those were some unfortunate initials if you ask me!)
there we are :) the mr and i.
we had our pictures taken the last weekend in oct (it was super cold that day!) by one of the high school girls that went on our big trip with me this summer. isn't she great??
then i made the card on shutterfly.
love it.

things i miss, now that i'm a mrs

yesterday karla from forever newly wedded wrote a post titled 'things i miss, now that i'm a mrs.' before i read the post i was thining i bet i can relate to a bunch of things on that list! after i read it, not so much. the things she misses are things that i missed well before i was a mrs. (living at mom & dad's, not paying bills, not knowing/worrying about the economy). but it got me thinking about the things i do miss.

don't get me wrong, i love my mr (if i need to convince you just read this post from tues) and i would not trade our life for anything... ok maybe channing tatum & an iv of fountain diet coke. kidding. kind of. but seriously- i love the mr, love our life, but there are things that i miss about being a miss.

watching whatever i want on tv, whenever i want, for however long i want.
eating chips & salsa or cheeze itz for dinner.
not eating dinner until 8 pm.
sleeping in the middle of the bed.
a smaller grocery bill.

spending my money how i want on what i want.
not that there was that much extra to spend afer bills but whatever.
not having someone know all of my bathroom habits.

didn't think you needed a pic for that last one :)

but, i love being a mrs :)

why does God let bad things happen?

a friend of mine 'shared' this on facebook today and i think it's a very moving and very fitting for this time of year...

Apparently the White House referred to Christmas Trees as “Holiday Trees” for the first time this ...
year which prompted CBS presenter, Ben Stein, to present this piece which I would like to share with you. I think it applies just as much to many countries as it does to America . . .
The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.
My confession:
I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejewelled trees, Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, “Merry Christmas” to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a crib, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her: “How could God let something like this happen?” (regarding Hurricane Katrina). Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said: “I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?”

In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbour as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said okay.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.

If not, then just discard it.... no one will know you did. But if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

My Best Regards, Honestly and respectfully,

Ben Stein

merry christmas,
mrs. k

the first year

looking back on our first year of marriage is interesting. people told me that marriage would be hard, that the wedding day was a sprint & marriage is a marathon. i won't lie to you and tell you that it's been easy, but it hasn't been as hard as i thought it would be. sure, there have been days that we've been mad at each other, there have been things that we don't agree on, there have been times that we argue, but i think we expected that. maybe because we dated for 4 years before we were married, we kind of new how to deal with the other person (for lack of a better term). or maybe because we see other people have relationships that aren't as good as ours or that have hit a rough patch and it comparrison ours isn't bad (i know that wasn't a nice thing to say, to compare my marriage to a rough one but this is my slice of the interent- take it or leave it!)

i think the fact that we can laugh at ourselves and with each other helps a lot. we laugh all the time in our house. i think it helps that one of us is hot headed and the other one is more mellow (i'll let you guess who is who). i think it helps that we do things together and seperate, like we cook & clean together and go on dates together, but i craft by myself and he hunts & fishes by himself. so we have together time but we each have activities that are our own too. i think making grown up decisions together (buying & paying for a car) has been good for us. i think the fact that we have good examples has helped us (my parents have been married 28 years, his 29, both sets of living grandparents have been married for 60+ years). i think going to church together has helped us. i think knowing that the other one is in for the long haul is good too.

i love this man

forever and ever.

December 6, 2012

updates!!

got a letter in the mail from the doctor today that my heart pumping action is quite good!!
what a relief. now i don't have to worry about my heart any more.

and- the craft shop update that i've been talking about since monday!!

if you've never noticed, along the top of my blog, up on the right there, there is a button called craft shop. and just like it says, it's my little shop where i sell the crafts that i make.

if you see something you like i do sales via paypal- i'll send out an invoice and we'll go from there.

if you don't see something you like but have a project in mind, message me and i'll see if we can work something out.

here are some of my most recent projects:

the mustache infinity scarf $15
this is made out of flannel fabric (but it isn't to warm!) perfect for wrapping twice around your neck

the color block infinity scarf $18
this made out of a jersey knit fabric (feels like a t shirt)
much longer- great for wrapping around three times

coffee cup cozies- like the cardboard kind they give you but much cuter & reusable! $6 each
same 5 on each side, just front & back
they are cute on both sides so you can switch it up depending on your mood. the all have an elastic closure & buttons on each side to hold it in place.
they are made with a lining similar to what goes in a hot pad (the material is called insul-bright) so it will help keep your beverage warm & your hand from getting to hot.

so, those are my updates for now :)
let me know if you'd like to order anything!!
