linking up with AP from ILYMTC for the first round of 'hey, that's pin-tastic' formerly known as project pinterest.
this week i didn't actually make anything from pinterest. i know! bad blogger/crafter! but i am going to share my review of different food things that i have made because there have been a few times that i have been sorely dissapointed after making something and thought- i wish someone would've told me that this was bad. well, i'm here to tell you today so here it goes. (all pins and links can be found on my things i've made board)
this one was a let down. i like cranberry lime things but this vodka was no good. the best thing about it was that it looked cool in the jar. the lime kind of took over and you couldn't really taste the cranberry and i know this is going to sound silly but, it tasted to vodka-y for me still.
chicken and cheese lasagna rolls.
these were so good y'all. but they will not look anything like they do in this picture- fair warning.
my tips on this one would be to make sure that you don't over-cook the noddle and that you don't try to over fill the rolls, each roll only holds a little bit of filling.
crockpot chicken tacos.
i could eat these every week.
i made them once on the stove instead of in the crockpot and they were ok. but i would make them in the crockpot if that's an option. i've added a little bit of chipolte in adobo to these and that kicked up the spice level but not too much. i like these just as the author suggests- with a little cheese, guac, and sour cream. i prefer bigger taco shells tho- those little ones just don't cut it for me.
i made these for high school weekend at the cabin back in august and they were a hit! everyone liked them for dinner as well as on nachos when we came home from the bar :)
twice baked potato casserole.
this was ok. i don't think i'd make it again.
the mr loves twice baked potatos so i thought this would be great for us. but you really only get the twice baked flavors on the top- the rest is just like mashed potatos.
jalapeno poppers.
so good. we eat these all the time. but don't let anyone on pinterest fool you- these still have a good kick to them.
but they're super easy to make and probably better for you than traditional poppers because they aren't fried. i made these for a football game a few weeks ago and the mr was bummed that i only made 2 poppers for each of us.
pizza bites.
i made these when both sets of parents were visiting us and they were a hit with everyone. they're like pizza, but finger food. so fun.
french toast muffins.
no good.
these were so dense that we could hardly eat them. and really sweet with the cin-sugar coating.
crockpot italian chicken.
i made this for my dad and sister on the stove when i was home one weekend. so good.
i made it with my last batch of freezer/crockpot meals- can't wait!
cheesey crunchy potatos
i made these on easter sunday for the mr and i. since i work at a church and he doesn't get easter monday off, we had easter just the two of us in our northern town. i made this and a simple small ham. so delish!! it was even good as leftovers. although i would have to suggest that if you're planning on leftovers only put the cereal topping on the part that you're going to eat and then add it each time you heat a portion up otherwise it gets a little soggy
red lobster biscuits
the first time i made these they were a little too salty- but that won't stop me from adjusting and trying again
fruit taco cookies
these were so fun but such a mess. i tried to bake them in tin foil boats that i made because the link gives no instructions. i totally didn't think about the fact that the cookie dough would just slump down and not hold it's shape while baking. i have since seen other pins about baking things on top of an upside down muffin tin and i would probably try something like that if i make these again. but the kids that i made them for did like them and thought it was really fun to load up their 'tacos'.
so good.
we used the apple pie dip as a cupcake filling in our wedding cupcakes. i love it.
wisonsin cheddar soup.
i've tried to make soup from scratch before and failed. it's just not my thing.
so this didn't turn out for me but it sounds like it could be a great soup.
oven baked onion rings.
what a disaster.
the coating does not stick well on the onions and the oven frying method does not allow for even cooking.
i tried these a second time on the stove top and it turned out much better. i will be trying again now that we have bought a counter top deep frying. i'll keep you posted on how that goes.
chili's chili queso knock-off
i think this stuff is delish! the mr thinks it's the same as mixing together velveeta and chili.
baked spaghetti
so my gosh! this is so good. please- go check out my board, follow the link and make this sometime in the near future. you put french's fried onions on top of this! mind blown. so good.
i can't wait to make this again.
the author suggests leaving out the green peppers or replacing with red ones but i thought it was great with the green.
mexican chicken casserole
i made this when my dad came to visit- we all loved it. but it would be good to have more patience then we do when it comes to eating it. we tried to cut into it too soon.
i sent some leftovers with my dad and he and my mom even liked it the second time around. i got a 'wow this is good' text :) the mr and i liked the leftovers too.
please check out my things i've made board to find all of the links for these pins.
none of these are my own creations, just my own opinons.
go check out ILYMTC to see what everyone else made this week.
be sure to stop back next monday to read all about my 'pin-tastic' dinner party that i'm having on thur- everything (decor, appetizers, main course, dessert, take homes) is going to be pinterest inspired!!
love, mrs. k
I think my hubby would love the Wisconsin cheddar soup. I'm your new follower, stop by my blog and follow if you find it interesting :)
