Wedding Wednesday!

101 days to go!

The future Mr. and I decided on what we want to serve at our reception. Our guests will get a choice of roasted pork loin with a apricot chiptole sauce, chicken marsala, or veggie pasta. We will also have a kid option (probably chicken strips but we havn't decided yet). I'm so glad that we made the decision and I'm happy that we are going with a plated dinner. It's so much classier and easier (I think).
I got prices back from the printing place on our invites so now I just need to go in and approve colors.
Our guest list is growing by the day. We keep thinking of people that we forgot, so do my parents.
Mom got the proof back for our can coozies. They look nice but the blue in the proof is to bright. So I have to call them and see if they can do it in a darker blue.
On Saturday my future MIL and I took our flower girl shopping and we picked a dress for her. She's so cute. Love her.
Right before I went shopping with those ladies the future Mr and I met with the pastor. I was nervous but it went well. He answered all of my questions about planning the ceremony and he got to know the future Mr a little better. I feel much better about the ceremony now.
On Saturday the future Mr. and I tried to go register at Target. We got there and the computers were down. Target was doing a nation wide update of their regitry things. Crap. So we went around the store and took pictures of everything that we watned and tonight I'm going to register with one of my b-maids. Hopefully all goes well.
Last Wednesday (8/24) I got a phone call that my dress is in!!! A woo hoo!! Tomorrow my sister and I are going to try it on and pick it up. I'm so excited! It's really real!!
Things are coming together.

Wedding #5:
Kody & Megan Galbrecht
August 27th 2011

Overall experience: 8. It was fun and it was nice to see the future Mr's family (the bride is his cousin)

Dress: 7. Her dress fit her well & it was pretty but it didn't really have a wow factor and I didn't like the way that it bustled.
Food: 6. It was served buffet style and the choices were all over the place. There was corn, pasta salad, meatballs in red sauce, chicken, and buns. The buns were great, they were my favorite buns- the kind that you like but you never buy for yourself because you know you'll eat the whole package by yourself. The corn and meatballs were good but the chiken was dry. And there was no lettus salad!! Instead of cake they did cupcakes, which was cute. I like cupcakes. But they had flavors that were very taste specific. I really think that at weddings you should have flavors of things that appeal to the masses.
Venue: 8. They got married at the same church that the future Mr. and I will be getting married at so it was nice to see how a wedding works there. It was nice to see where the guest book and gifts went as. It was also helpful to see how much room the family needed.
They had pew bows with flowers which to me just seems like extra work that isn't really worth while. We will not be having pew bows.
Their reception was at an event center in the next town over. The event center alway has white twinkle lights up and trees with lights behind the head table. Not like Christmas trees but trees with only branches, no leaves. It looks nice. But they didn't do any other decorating really. They put cupcake trees on some table and plates for cupcakes on other tables. I know that decorating is not everyone's thing, but I was excpeting a little more.

Overall it was fun and they bride and groom were happy which is what matters most.

So What Wednesday

It's time for So What Wednesday again!
Here's what I'm saying So What to this week:

*if I didn't play along with SWW last week? I wasn't on my computer at all last Wednesday.

*if I hate doing dishes?

*if part of me is excited about the cooler weather that's coming? I live in northern MN I have lots of clothes that I can only wear when it's cold, I've missed those clothes!

*if I shamelessly blog & facebook about giveaways on other peoples blogs? I really want to win one! Like this one that Little Miss Momma is hosting. You should go check it out- it's sweet.

*if I haven't won a giveaway yet?

*if I'm going to register for wedding gifts with out the future Mr. tonight? Read my Wedding Wednesday post to find out why :)

*if I like the pinterest app on my phone more then I like the pinterest website?

What are you saying So What to this week?
Head on over to Life After I "Dew" to see what

Jon & Kate + 8

When Jon & Kate + 8 first came out on TLC I loved it! I watched it every week. I thought it was so neat to see how these seemingly normal people ran their lives with 8 children (8 cute children!). I loved the sign that Kate had on the dining room table that said "Plan Ahead" but the a and the d in the ahead were smaller. I loved that they were trying to do what was right for their kids. They fed them organic food & tried to make healthy choices. I even understood why they went to TLC. I mean, lets be real- who can afford daycare for 8 kids?? So she had to stay home. And his salary as a techie guy wasn't going to support thier family of 10.

But then things got weird.

They got famous. They got famous for all of the same reasons that I liked watching their show. People liked them because they were real and they seemed like a wholesome family.

Then things crumbled.

They got divorced and it was nasty.

This post all stems from the fact that I caught the newest episode of Kate + 8 on TLC last night. In one shot she is prepping food for the camping trip that she's taking the kids on and hanging on the wall right behind her is a professional photograph of all 10 of them when the kids were little. Seeing that picture really jolted me and made me think how different their lives are and how much they have changed in the time that they've been on TLC.

Kate was always organized and stressed. She yelled. She wanted things a certain way. And in the begining I understood. With 8 kids you have to have some organization and I'd probably be stressed that someone was going to get hurt too. But last night, while I was watching them on their camping trip with friends I thought "My gosh, how does this woman even have friends?" She went from organized & stressed to dictator. She wanted to control everything that they did. She freaked out when kids took too long to pee. She got upset when people tried to take pictures of them without asking at Mt. Rushmore. She thought that clay on the river bank was poop (although once she realized it was clay, she did play in it with the kids). She got mad that the other two ladies were playing with the kids while she had to make dinnner. When one of the other ladies wanted to rip the lettus for the salad, Kate said it had to be cut.

I want a big family some day. Not as big as Jon and Kate had but bigger then what I grew up with. I only have 1 sister. I think 4 kids is a good number. But I really hope that I can find a balance between organized/stressed and fun/easygoing.

I have to live with a boy!!

My title today is from one of my favorite episodes of FRIENDS. It's the episode where Monica & Rachel are packing Rachel's things because she is moving out and Chandler is moving in. Towards the end of the episode, Monica breaks down in tears and says "I have to live with a boy!"

It's totally how I've felt from time to time during our engagement. The only boy I have ever lived with has been my dad, and let's be real, he doesn't really count as a boy- he's my dad!

Earlier this week the future Mr. and I were talking about moving his things here this fall and where they're going to fit. Thankfully he still lives at home so we don't have two houses worth of furniture to combine. But my house is very much a girl house. I have a few pretty wreaths that I switch out with the seasons for the dining room table, they sit atop a mirror and they house 3 pillar candles. I have a fake fireplace in my living room that has candles in different shaped glass jars in it. I have pictures of flowers hanging as art on my dining room wall. I have old barn windows hanging as art in the living room. I have a white comforter with navy blue and lime green flower details on my bed. I have a pretty nightstand. I have pillows that look nice and that is their only job- they're not really functional. I have uppercase living words on the wall in my bedroom and a small sparkley metal star between my bedroom windows. I just got two sparkley wooden/twine stars to hang by the living room "fireplace". I live in a girl house.

Well my future Mr. wants to know where his things will go. I told him that some of his things will have to wait until we have a house of our own that isn't a rental (like his mounted deer head. Good job hunny! But it isn't going in my house anytime soon.) And he has a lamp that has deer and nature scenes on it and some paintings of deer and nature scenes. None of these things jive with my girl-y decor.

But I want him to feel like this is his house too. Ya know? Maybe he's feeling the same way about my girly stuff. Maybe he doesn't like it. I don't know how to do this. I don't know how to combine our styles. Help?!?

We were also talking about our clothing situation. The house that I live in is probably 100 years old. There is a closet in my bedroom but it was definately added as an after thought. And my stuff doesn't even all fit in it. There is another room in my house that I don't know what to call. It's right in the middle of the house and I'm pretty sure it's where the stairs were before the house was split into a duplex. Anyway, I use that space a closet/storage. There is a closet in there which is where I've been keeping dresses, jackets, jeans, pants, skirts, & shorts. I also have a shelf in there for sweatshirts & sweaters. Earlier this summer I cleaned off the shelf, got realistic about what I needed & cleared off two of the four shelves for the future Mr.s sweatshirts. Today during my spring cleaning I cleaned my closet in the bedroom then put everything from the 2nd closet into mine to make room for my future Mr. My closet in the bedroom is seriously full. Hopefully everything fits when I'm done doing laundry!

So we'll just have to learn how to mold both of our styles into one and we'll have to figure out storage issues.
Hope you're having a great day!

Spring Cleaning

I need to do some spring cleaning.

You're probably thinking "Sarah, spring was a long time ago. Why would you say you need to do spring cleaning now?"

Well, if you've been reading this blog for a while then you know that I work in a church. This spring, Easter was late. All of April I was prepping for Easter which was the end of April and then all of the events I had in May. Which included confirmation, graduation Sunday, driving to MO for my cousin's graduation, graduation parties in my northern town, and the on-set of summer which included 3 1/2 weeks at Bible camp.

I didn't have time for spring cleaning.

My house and my office have suffered from this. Tonight and tomorrow (I don't work on Fridays) are spring cleaning days at my house. Next week, Mon-Wed will be spring cleaning at work. My desk, my shelves, my drawers, the youth room (all of the shelves & storage in there needs to be gone through). I seriously have check list for what needs to be done in my house room by room. This afternoon I'll be making a list of what needs to be done for spring cleaning in the office.

It's not going to be fun. But I'll feel better when it's all done.

Back to the grind

It's offical. I am done going to camp and traveling with kids for the summer. I have one more over night retreat left for a board that I serve on but that's all.

So we're back to the grind on weight watchers. I really tried this summer but it is so hard to keep track of points at camp when you don't know how things are made. So I just kind guessed. And I took smaller portions then I wanted. WW is hard at the cabin too because there is ALWAYS snacky food out!!

I've still been weighing myself almost daily. I bounce around a little bit in about a 4 pound range. I'm still lower then where I started in May but I'm no where near where I'd like to be right now.

So here we are. 110 days til the wedding, it's crunch time. We're getting serious about WW again. And walking. And maybe Zumba. A mom/friend from church does Zumba twice a week. I have to find out when she goes and go with her. I'm not good at doing things by myself. I need accountability.

My sister posted pictures on facebook from WE Fest and I was really not happy with the way that I look. And I promise I'm not being one of those girls that is pretty and skinny but is being hard on herself. I really do need to lose some weight to be healthier. The doctor even told me so. (What a boost for the self esteem that one was...)

I will keep you posted. As hard as it may be.

Thursday

Sorry for the lame title but today's post is going to be full of random thoughts:

I can't get my camera cord to work in the church computer either. I now have no way to get pictures off of my camera. Grr.... It may be time for a new camera. Which isn't so bad, I've wanted a better camera for a while now. I bought mine last January and it's just a small Samsung digital camera. And it's pink :) that's my fav part.

*****

Last night we had jr hi youth group at my house. Only 3 girls showed up. I grilled burgers & hot dogs. I have lots of left overs. I hate left overs. They never taste as good as they did the first time.

*****

I love my iPhone. I'm on it all the time. But I don't know how to get picutres from that to here. Help? Please.

I can't wait to go to the lake this weekend. I love the lake. And I live in one of the few counties in MN that doesn't have a lake in it! I grew up in a county with more then 400 lakes in it. Srsly- there are 416 lakes within a 20 mile radius of my parents house. I grew up with a house and a lake cabin.
Now I live in a town where there is a river going through town. You'd have to pay my a lot of money to go in that river. It's cold and dirty. I'll take my lake any day thank you.
And I'm 3 and 1/2 hours away from my lake now :( I wish it was closer.

That's all I've got today.
How's your day going?
